Advert analysis #1 - Razer DeathAdder V2

 





This is an advertisement for the Razer DeathAdder V2, a gaming mouse, that was released by the consumer electronics company called Razer. The product is a desktop mouse that is manufactured differently compared to normal office mice so that it can be used for gaming. It has better performance, and overall better aspects for the use of gaming. The goal of the advert is to tell the audience that the mouse has best in stock quality and an amazing ergonomic design.







Media Language

The advert for the Razer DeathAdder V2 adheres the genre convention by using specific words to describe their products and they show it in a really detailed break down of the product that they are advertising. The media language used is influenced by the products target audience because it is not shown in a slow manner but a fast one, it keeps the audience hyped up and uses a variety of bright colors in the background in order to attract the audience even more. This surplus of colors and fast paced speed of the advert makes it more appealing to the target audience which I believe is young men or women aged 13 - 30.


Representation

The advert has a really catchy background audio and most importantly clean and perfectly cut edits that make it appeal to the target audience. The intro features a really fast paced edit with many different colors and the product itself being held by a robot hand. Overall, the advert for the product uses a really metallic dark aesthetic in order to give a futuristic / modern vibe to the advert. This gives an idea that people who would be buying these products are more of the medium to higher class. 

Audience

The target audience of this advert can be easily identified as people who take video games seriously / competitively, or just young people who love flashy cool products in general. The advert for the product plays on the gratification of diversion. This is because the product offers advantages and benefits that you will not get using normal cheaper products such as a faster response rate which makes them go away from everyday problems. The advert also makes an attempt to reach and appeal to the audience by using a high quality edit in order to show off the product. This can be seen near the end of the advert where they show different styles / colors of the products that they offer in a really fast paced high quality edit.

Industry 

Nowadays, the use of technology can be used to influence the production rate of the products, this is because the product in the advert is one that can be manufactured easily with the right technology. By using the improved technology today and combining that with the internet, it is now possible to catch the attention of many viewers worldwide which will also be helped by the special aesthetics and capabilities of the product resulting in better circulation and distribution.
