LOGO & THUMBNAIL


The topics for our podcast are humor and true crime, we would need to find a logo with something that fits in both categories, since humor will be the leading factor, we would have a humorous logo with a hint of true crime.


From the research Narent has done, logos that are humorous look mostly like this:






The logos main trend for this type of genre look comic like and bright colors. Having drawings of funny looking characters with a comic book like background, even having the word “comedy” in it, cartoon versions of their faces looking confused, this is a trend in the genre, where the podcast’s a type of question answering podcast, and smiling hosts.


The second genre which is true crime have logos that look like this:





For this type of genre, the main trend for their logos are simpler and monotoned. They’re a lot less busy, the fonts look clean and simple, not a lot going on, more aesthetic.




Reference images




Most of these logos are red which is what we are looking for considering that the name of our podcast is “caught red handed” and red also matches the current topic of red notes. Also it matches the true crime estetic of blood or red paint in this case. Another thing to consider about most of these red logos is the fact that there are either murder weapons in them or handcuffs to simulate that this is a podcast solely made to discuss high threat crimes such as murder. From my research, we have learnt that a podcast’s social media can contain the following things:


  • It may contain pictures and sales of merchandise

  • Images of the hosts in it

  • Clearly states who the hosts are

  • Giveaways for the fans

  • Teasers for upcoming podcasts

  • Images of the guests featured in the podcast

  • A representation of what the podcast is about (refers to the true crime genre)

  • It features links to other things they do asides from the podcast itself

  • Shows images of events that the hosts have participated in

  • Fun facts and images that the fans will enjoy



For the final product after continuous research, we decided that our main theme would be Red and that our podcast Thumbnails would look like this:

Podcast Progress/Changes

       Personally, I think that the progress for our podcast was slow in the beginning and we just didn't really know what to make. However, me and Narent came up with the idea of making the podcast somewhat similar to the Buzzfeed Unsolved series in YouTube. The Buzzfeed Unsolved series was a bit too serious for our liking so we decided to switch things up and make our podcast a little dramatic and humorous.       Before we started to actually record the podcast, we had to run a survey to see what the majority of people are interested in. We made the survey in a google form and asked random people from around the school to answer our survey. After we've collected enough data, we began to spot trends and decided to make the topic for the first episode be about the infamous Red Note.      For my role, I worked on making the dramatic intro for the topic of the episode. I also suggested that there should people commenting in the background as I'm giving out the dramatic intro.

COMP 3 - Critical Self Reflection

This is the section where I would write my Critical Self Reflection for the Component 3 media project. Media Self Reflection Cambridge gave a variety of briefs that I could do. I chose the music promotion brief because me and my group thought that it would be the best option and something that we will enjoy making. The brief given to me said “A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music video (major task), together with an official social media page for the band or artiste(s) and a digipak for the album’s release (minor tasks)”. I decided to choose the genre of pop because the song we chose falls under this category and it fits the overall image of the music video we made.
