OFCOM Case Study

In the United Kingdom, Ofcom oversees the television, telecommunications, and postal sectors. By the 2003 Communications Act, an autonomous body was created. Issue and enforcement of broadcast licenses, fostering competition in the communications industry, and defending consumer rights are all duties of Ofcom. Additionally, it has the authority to impose penalties on businesses that break the law and to enforce regulations on things like child safety, advertising, and content.

South Park Case Study

South Park is a popular animated television series that has been on the air since 1997. The show is known for its crude animation style, dark humor, and controversial subject matter. Despite its popularity, South Park has been banned or censored in several countries for its depiction of religious figures, use of profanity and explicit content.

One of the main reasons South Park has been banned is its treatment of religious figures and themes. The show has been criticized for its depiction of Jesus Christ, Muhammad, and other religious figures in a disrespectful and irreverent manner. This has led to protests and calls for censorship from religious groups and organizations.

Another reason the show has been banned is its use of profanity. South Park is known for its use of offensive language, including racial slurs and sexually explicit language. This has led to censorship of the show in many countries and on several television networks.

Podcast Progress/Changes

       Personally, I think that the progress for our podcast was slow in the beginning and we just didn't really know what to make. However, me and Narent came up with the idea of making the podcast somewhat similar to the Buzzfeed Unsolved series in YouTube. The Buzzfeed Unsolved series was a bit too serious for our liking so we decided to switch things up and make our podcast a little dramatic and humorous.       Before we started to actually record the podcast, we had to run a survey to see what the majority of people are interested in. We made the survey in a google form and asked random people from around the school to answer our survey. After we've collected enough data, we began to spot trends and decided to make the topic for the first episode be about the infamous Red Note.      For my role, I worked on making the dramatic intro for the topic of the episode. I also suggested that there should people commenting in the background as I'm giving out the dramatic intro.

COMP 3 - Critical Self Reflection

This is the section where I would write my Critical Self Reflection for the Component 3 media project. Media Self Reflection Cambridge gave a variety of briefs that I could do. I chose the music promotion brief because me and my group thought that it would be the best option and something that we will enjoy making. The brief given to me said “A promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music video (major task), together with an official social media page for the band or artiste(s) and a digipak for the album’s release (minor tasks)”. I decided to choose the genre of pop because the song we chose falls under this category and it fits the overall image of the music video we made.
